Vasiliki + Simon | Greek Orthodox Wedding
Vasiliki was genuine and easy to work with right from the start. She invited me to join her and her kind-hearted fiancé, Simon to witness a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at the church in Montreal a few weeks before theirs, so I’d have a good idea of all the rituals of a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony. We agreed on a plan for me to start photographing the preparation time at her parents’ house, then head over to the Saint George Orthodox Cathedral for the ceremony. Afterwards, we followed the antique limousine up to the Laurentian Mountains to a private chalet they’d rented for the night, to take portraits in the late afternoon light.
To my pleasant surprise, Vasiliki’s father invited me to join them for dinner and stay the night and continue photographing and documenting this special intimate family event straight though to the following day. Now that I was staying, I was able to capture Simon playing with their sweetheart little boy, Elias, and have some more bride and groom portraits in their room upstairs in the chalet. Later, I documented their intimate candlelit family dinner and what was left of the evening. Early the next morning, I suggested to Vasiliki and Simon that we take advantage of the beautiful morning light off the dock, and have a brief morning portrait session. A few more shots at breakfast completed this charming wedding story and then we made our way back to Montreal.
It was such a true joy and an honour to have shared in this endearing family wedding event.
