Jenny + Phil | Montreal Indian Wedding | Parc Jean-Drapeau
I’d had the good fortune to photograph an Indian wedding, while travelling solo with my camera throughout incredible India back in 2012. Needless to say, it was more than an honour to photograph Jenny and Phil’s Indian/Jamaican/Quebecois wedding in Montreal at La Toundra in Parc Jean-Drapeau. The weather couldn’t have been more cooperative for a late afternoon outdoor traditional Hindu ceremony. But what made this wedding so special was the remarkable entrance by the groom on the saxophone, followed by a band of his dearest friends, playing various eastern and western instruments. I found out later that the bride’s sari was made using the fabric from her mother’s wedding sari, and the cake was beautifully made by the groom’s mother. On top of it all, the guests were an impressive multi-ethnic crowd of plenty of joy and love for this remarkable couple. Such an honour to document!
