Super happy to share that Montreal Wedding Photographer, Valerie Rosen Photography has received two new Spotlight Awards for Wedding Photojournalism in the latest round from the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), and we couldn’t be more honoured and humbled. It goes without saying that this kind of recognition couldn’t happen without permission from my beautiful couples to share these standout moments of their heartwarming love stories! I’d like to emphasize that all of these stills reflect candid moments that were unscripted, while I just backed up and let the couple be themselves. Hope you love them as much as I did witnessing them, and capturing them!

It’s also a pleasure and a joy to share that Valerie Rosen Photography has also received two new “Black Diamond Awards for Engagement Portraits,” with much gratitude to WPJA!
These engagement sessions are more of a “Discovery” session that gives us a chance to hang out with the cameras, without the pressures of a wedding day timeline, to low key experiment in a choice location, so we can all get a good sense of what feels natural for the couple, and I can find a personalized approach to photographing them. After all, documenting what is real and personal to a couple’s connection is always the goal! It’s a win win for everyone, and they get some beautiful photos they often decide to use for the wedding in some way.
Black Diamond Award No. 1: Toward the end of their super fun Engagement session at Parc Nature de l’Ile de la Visitation (Visitation Island Nature Park) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Steph & Alex practice their dip for their first dance!

Black Diamond Award No. 2: Gwen & Marc stare into each other’s eyes in an embrace by a vine covered wall at the back of the Governor’s Garden in Old Montreal’s 18th century Chateau Ramezay. It’s worth noting that this moment was entirely theirs, unposed. Valerie Rosen Photography is very excited to document their wedding in 2026.
